Hai Duong to invest in better transport infrastructure

The northern province of Hai Duong plans to focus investment on provincial roads and those linking it with other localities from now to 2030 to meet people’s travel demand and goods transport while helping boost socioeconomic development and ensure traffic safety.

The northern province of Hai Duong plans to focus investment onprovincial roads and those linking it with other localities from now to 2030 tomeet people’s travel demand and goods transport while helping boostsocioeconomic development and ensure traffic safety.

Vu Van Tung,Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Transport, said most roads inHai Duong are quite narrow at some 5.5-6 metres wide.

Investment inupgrading roads remains limited, with only 3.5 percent of the total length ofprovincial roads repaired each year.

The number ofvehicles travelling along these roads, meanwhile, increased 8-10 percent per yearduring the 2014-2019 period.

The province istherefore striving to mobilise 4.1 trillion VND (174.4 million USD) in2021-2025 and 6.6 trillion VND (280.8 million USD) in 2026-2030 to build or upgradelocal roads.

Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Nguyen Duong Thai said the province will give priority tourgent and key projects to create breakthroughs in infrastructure.

Regarding inter-provincialroads, it will consider investment in the public-private partnership (PPP) formto reduce the amount of capital sourced from the local budget.

In the short term,it will invest in the Dinh and Quang Thanh Bridges connecting the province withHai Phong city and the Trieu Bridge linking it with Quang Ninh province./.
