Ha Tinh (VNA)ꦗ – A ceremony was held in the central province of Ha Tinh on June 24 to receive a certificate recognising the Sino-Nom documents from Truong Luu village as a Document Heritage Memory of the World Programme for the Asia-Pacific region.

The ceremony also celebrated the 310th anniversary of Nguyen Huy Oanh (1713-2023), who won the third highest academic title in the feudal system, the 280th anniversary of celebrity Nguyen Huy Tu (1743-2023), and the 240th anniversary of celebrity Nguyen Huy Ho (1783-2023). This is a unique handwritten collection in Chinese and Nom featuring the documents of the ordinations of the Le and Nguyen dynasties (1689-1943) to honour, bestow, and ordain several people from families of Nguyen Huy, Tran, Hoang, and Phan in Truong Luu village.
Most of the documents are well preserved with the king's lettering and seal still clearly visible. The material of the documents is very diverse, including dó paper, special dó paper, and silk. The handwriting looks clear, authenticating these documents as rare cultural, educational, and unique artworks. Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ha Tinh People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau said the province is rich in historical-cultural traditions and is home to many world intangible and tangible cultural heritages, including Ca Tru (ceremonial singing) and Nghe Tinh Vi-Giam folk singing as representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, the woodblocks of Phuc Giang school, the book entitled “Hoang Hoa Su Trinh Do” (Itinerary Maps of the Imperial Envoy), and the Sino-Nom documents from Truong Luu village as three document heritages under the Memory of the World Programme for Asia-Pacific region. The province currently has more than 1,800 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots, including two special national, 86 national-level, and 550 provincial-level relics. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong expressed his hope that the families and owners of the heritages will continue to join hands with the State management agencies to protect and promote the values of the heritages more effectively and scientifically.
He said that the solemn ceremony that Ha Tinh held to celebrate the birthdays of great persons and announce UNESCO’s recognition of the Sino-Nom documents vividly demonstrates the sense of inheritance, succession, and honoring the sages of the province and the country. The Sino-Nom documents from Truong Luu village (1689-1943) were collected and appraised by Dr. Nguyen Huy My who together with Ha Tinh province built a dossier for submission to UNESCO. On November 28, 2022, the Asia/Pacific Regional Committee for the Memory of the World Programme (MOWCAP) recognised the Sino-Nom Documents from Truong Luu village as a World Memory of the Asia-Pacific region.
The dossier of Sino-Nom documents from Truong Luu cultural village (1689-1943) submitted to UNESCO affirms that the collection is authentic evidence for research related to history, education, politics, culture, great people, gender equality and praise for women. The tradition of studiousness and respect for the elderly of a typical Vietnamese village, namely Truong Luu village, is helpful for the study of the country's history (1689-1943). Each document is treated as an original work of art./.
