Ha Giang, India forge new paths for cooperation

Ha Giang (VNA) – Ha Giang province is seeking enhanced support from the Indian Embassy in key sectors such as education, health care, information technology, and social welfare, according to Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hau A Lenh.

During a meeting with an embassy delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya on March 20, Lenh expressed gratitude for the invaluable support provided by the Indian Embassy and Ambassador Arya. Thanks to this partnership, Ha Giang has successfully completed three significant projects: a boarding house, a school site, and a clean water system to improve the lives of ethnic minority communities. Additionally, several provincial officials and public servants have benefited from English scholarship programmes funded by the embassy.

Situated in northern Vietnam, Ha Giang is a mountainous border province sharing over 277 km of its boundary with China’s Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. The province is home to one international and two bilateral border gates. With its stunning natural landscapes and vibrant cultural heritage representing 19 ethnic groups, Ha Giang has emerged as a captivating destination for both domestic and international visitors. The province is prioritising tourism development as a strategic economic driver, aiming to become a prominent tourism hub that enhances its local brand.

Lenh expressed his hope that Ambassador Arya will continue to play a pivotal role in promoting Ha Giang’s rich culture, scenic beauty, and warm people to Indian citizens. He also called for the ambassador’s support in connecting Indian enterprises and investors to explore business opportunities in the province.

In response, he expressed his optimism about Ha Giang’s engagement in ongoing Indian-led programmes in Vietnam, particularly in climate change mitigation, digital transformation, and IT development.

He also voiced his desire for both sides to further strengthen their long-term cooperation in education, culture, and tourism. The ambassador said he believes that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India, as well as the cooperative ties between the Indian Embassy and Ha Giang province, will continue to grow stronger an෴d more prosperous in the future./.
