Beijing (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of China Xi Jinping and his spouse chaired a grand welcome ceremony for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam To Lam and his spouse in Beijing on August 19 morning.
The welcome ceremony was held with 21-cannon salute, the highest level for a head of state.
The Vietnamese leader and his spouse are making a State visit to China from August 18-20 at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his spouse.
Party General Secretary and President Xi invited his Vietnamese counterpart to ascend to the honorary podium, and 21 cannons were fired in salute. The two leaders then inspected the guards of honour of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam and his spouse are paying a state visit to China. The visit from August 18 – 20 is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping. Vietnam and China, as neighbouring countries, share many similarities in culture, political systems, and development paths. Recently, through the joint efforts of both sides, the relationship between the two Parties and nations has progressed positively, achieving significant accomplishments across various fields.
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and State President To Lam met with representatives of friendship organisations, family members of revolutionary generals, experts and advisors who had assisted Vietnam during its resistance wars, in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province of China on August 18.
Party General Secretary and State President To Lam had a meeting with Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangdong province Huang Kunming and the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Committee in Guangzhou on August 18, the first day of his ongoing visit to China.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
