Hanoi (VNA) – The Government has sketched out a plan to restructure its media organisations in a strategic move to optimise its operation, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra.
The plan is outlined in accordance with the orientation of the Party Central Committee, with key television networks, namely Nhan Dan (People) TV, National Assembly TV, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Television (Vnews), and VOV TV and VTC TV under the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) to cease their independent operations.
Under the new arrangement scheme, their functions will be transferred to Vietnam Television (VTV), Tra said, stating VTV is tasked with developing a comprehensive restructuring plan to well perform its mission as the national television.
VNA and VOV must undergo substantial rearrangement and streamlining, establishing themselves as the national news agency and the national radio broadcaster with a focus placed on developing print media, digital media, and radio products. Their regular operational expenses will be covered by the State budget.
Regarding the restructuring of public service units within the organisational structure of ministries and ministerial-level agencies, the Minister of Home Affairs stated that a maximum of five public service units will be maintained to perform state management functions, including institutes, magazines, newspapers, information centers, and professional training institutions.
