Government devises actions to combat corruption

The Government has issued Resolution 126/NQ-CP on its action programme on anti-corruption until 2020.
Hanoi (VNA) – The Government has issuedResolution 126/NQ-CP on its action programme on anti-corruption until 2020.

The action programme is a detailed plan toimplement the national anti-corruption strategy and the United NationsConvention against Corruption. It is a basis for ministries, sectors,localities and other parties to carry out tasks to fight corruption.

In the programme, the Government defined eightmain groups of tasks to be performed by 2020. They include improving the roleand sense of responsibility of officials, public employees and civil servants,especially the heads of agencies, organisations and units.

The management and supervision of officials,public employees and civil servants will be enhanced while regulations onpersonnel work will be fine-tuned and strictly enforced. Agencies will have tocontrol the assets and income of officials, public employees and civilservants, and perform their duties more transparently.

Ministries, sectors and localities will work toperfect the management of socio-economic institutions. They will strengtheninspections, examinations, supervision, auditing, investigations andprosecutions to ensure the effectiveness of corruption prevention and control.

Public awareness and society’s role andresponsibility in fighting corruption will be fostered. Meanwhile, theapparatus, functions and tasks of agencies and units in charge of corruptionprevention and control will be consolidated.

Under the progamme, Vietnam will incorporate theUN Convention against Corruption into local law, expand the scope of the Law onAnti-Corruption to the non-State sector, and cooperate with foreign partners intackling corruption.-VNA
