Google Doodle celebrates Vietnam’s National Day with mythical bird image
The Vietnam homepage of tech giant Google today features a doodle of ‘chim lac’, a Vietnamese mythical national bird, to mark the country’s 77th National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2022).

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam homepage of techgiant Google today features a doodle of ‘chim lac’, a Vietnamese mythicalnational bird, to mark the country’s 77th National Day (September2, 1945 – 2022).
Talking about its special doodle, Google said: “Chim lacmost closely resembles the crane with its long beak and can be found asintricate decorations on traditional Dong Son bronze drums.”
It also gave details on the date, saying: “In 1945, theDeclaration of Independence of Vietnam was read aloud to the public, officiallyrecognising Vietnam as a sovereign nation.”
Citizens are given a day off from work, and red-and-yellowbanners line the streets to mark the holiday, it said, adding that theVietnamese national flag is displayed on every corner of the country.

On September 2, 1945 at Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, declaring the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and opening up a new era in the nation’s history.
Search engines in 20 countries, including Vietnam, the UK, the US, Canada, Israel and Austria on December 12 feature a Google Doodle of "Pho" – Vietnamese traditional noodle soup.
