Jakarta (VNA)ꦓ – The GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025, one of Southeast Asia’s most anticipated automotive events, officially kicked off on July 24 in Tangerang, Indonesia, and will run through August 3.

This year’s exhibition spotlights electric vehicles (EVs), smart mobility, and future technologies. With over 40 new car models unveiled and more than 60 global automotive brands participating, GIIAS 2025 continues to reinforce Indonesia’s position as a strategic market and emerging manufacturing hub in the region. Speaking at the event, Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita urged automotive businesses to stay optimistic about the domestic market and actively contribute to the development of the local EV ecosystem.
GIIAS 2025 marks a record-breaking year with the participation of 39 passenger car brands, four commercial vehicle makers, and 16 motorcycle manufacturers. Chinese EV giants including BYD, Chery, GAC Aion, and Jetour made a strong impression with a wide range of electric models and advanced battery technologies. Their presence highlights Indonesia’s accelerating electrification trend and the growing competition between traditional Japanese automakers and new challengers.
Among the new models unveiled, Vietnam’s VinFast showcased its VF 7 electric SUV in two versions: VF 7 Eco and VF 7 Plus. According to the Indonesia Automotive Manufacturers Association (GAIKINDO), the 32nd edition of GIIAS is a milestone event, underscoring Indonesia’s automotive achievements and serving as a launchpad for innovation and sustainable mobility in both the national and regional markets./.
