German papers hail Vietnam’s voice on international arena
A number of German politicians, experts and papers have hailed Vietnam for raising important voices in trade liberalisation and climate change response.

Berlin (VNA) – A number of German politicians,experts and papers have hailed Vietnam for raising important voices in tradeliberalisation and climate change response.
The Neues Deutscheland (New Germany), one of the majorGerman papers, ran an article by Dr. Detlef Pries who said Vietnam’s presenceat the G20 Summit as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2017reflects the country’s improving prestige on international arena.
Reviewing Vietnam’s economic progresses over the past threedecades since the renovation in 1986, the author said its economic growth couldbe comparable to any economies’. In the past decade, income per capita surgedfrom 730 USD in 2007 to 2,445 USD in 2016, which is set to soar to 3,200 USD in2020 by the 12th National Party Congress.
Pries said he is impressed by Vietnam’s economic growthtarget of 6.7 percent this year, and said in order to achieve such ambitiousgoal, the Southeast Asian country needs to have fine economic and traderelations, with a focus on attraction of foreign direct investment and freetrade agreements.
According to the article, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s recentvisits to the US and Japan aimed to boost mutually-beneficial ties. Apart fromcoming to Germany for the G20 Summit, the PM paid a working trip to Berlin tostep up negotiations on the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and increase all-around collaborationwith Germany in various areas, including vocational training to improvecompetitiveness.
“Vietnam wants to strengthen relations with Germany” is thetitle of an article run by the German Press Agency (DPA), which said PM Phucheld working sessions with Hessen and Rheinland-Pfalz states to reinforce tiesacross economy, education and culture.
It added that over the past years, Vietnam has workedclosely with Germany to build a law-governed State, thus laying foundation forsustainable socio-economic development.-VNA
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Germany right after his arrival in Berlin on July 5 evening (local time).
Vietnam’s consistent policy is to consider Germany its leading important and trusted partner in Europe and hope to deepen the bilateral strategic partnership, affirmed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Vietnam attaches special importance to developing the relations with Germany, which is its leading partner in Europe in politics-external relations, trade-investment, education-training and science-technology, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has expressed his desire that Germany, as the largest economy and an influential member of the European Union (EU), would help attract global resources into Vietnam.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State place great importance on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia in a substantive and effective manner, in line with the development needs of both nations.

In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
