German film fest comes to HCM City

A selection of films by well-known directors as well as surprising successes by young filmmakers that gained attention at other international film festivals will be shown at the German Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City from September 27 to October 4.
A selection of films by well-known directors as well as surprisingsuccesses by young filmmakers that gained attention at otherinternational film festivals will be shown at the German Film Festivalin Ho Chi Minh City from September 27 to October 4.

Aftersuccess in Hanoi , Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Hue, Da Nang, and NhaTrang, eight German films will be screened in HCM City by theGoethe-Institute.

The schedule includes films such as Barbara,Kaddish for a Friend, Victor and the Secret of Crocodile Mansion, FourDays in May, Animals United – Adventure in Africa, Home for the Weekend,Stopped on Track, and Sound of Heimat .

Barbara, which will bescreened during the opening ceremony on September 27 in HCM City's CINEBOX at 212 Ly Chinh Thang Street, is a story of a woman tornbetween two countries, the German Democratic Republic and the FederalRepublic of Germany, and likewise between two men.

The festivalhas achieved overwhelming success in recent years, with more than50,000 viewers in total. All of the films except one will have Englishand Vietnamese subtitles.

Free tickets will be provided by the Goethe-Institute in HCM City.-VNA

The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
