Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and head of the committee’s Organisation Commission Le Minh Hung, who is also Chairman of the Vietnam–Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, received a delegation from the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, led by its Chairwoman Obuchi Yuko in Hanoi on August 7.

Hung congratulated Obuchi Yuko, a member of Japan's House of Representatives, on her appointment and emphasised that building on the strong foundation between the two friendship parliamentarians’ groups, both sides will continue close coordination to deepen their practical, effective, and substantive cooperation in particular and the Vietnam–Japan comprehensive strategic partnership in general.

Nearly two years after the elevation of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world, he noted that the relationship has made comprehensive progress across all fields. He highlighted high levels of political trust and key achievements in the economy, trade, investment, ODA, tourism, local cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and human resources development.

𓆉 Obuchi Yuko extended sympathies on the recent tragedies in Vietnam, including the boat capsizing in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province and severe flooding in Dien Bien, Son La, and Nghe An provinces. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting and promoting cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups and the two countries.

Commenting on Vietnam’s strong economic performance, she described the country as a global growth centre. She expressed her hope that following Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru’s successful visit to Vietnam, both sides will advance new cooperation across areas such as defence, security, economy, agriculture, workforce training, labour, and local governance. She also underlined key pillars of the bilateral relationship, the role of scientific, technological, and innovation cooperation, especially in high-quality human resources development.

Hung briefed the delegation on Vietnam’s domestic situation and preparations for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He outlined strategic orientations for sustainable and rapid national development, focusing on breakthroughs in science, innovation, digital transformation, as well as administrative restructuring, including a two-level local government model, to improve the effectiveness of the state apparatus. He noted these reforms require strong political will and system-wide unity.

He reaffirmed that the Vietnam–Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group will continue implementing practical activities to enhance mutual understanding, reinforce political trust, and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership across sectors.

Obuchi Yuko expressed appreciation for Vietnam’s reform agenda, particularly political system restructuring and the two-level local government model. She voiced a hope for continued delegation exchanges at all levels and an expansion of people-to-people cooperation, especially in digital transformation and green transition. She affirmed Japan’s ongoing support and willingness to accompany Vietnam on its development path.

𒉰 On the occasion, she also wished Vietnam success in its upcoming 14th National Party Congress, expressing confidence in the country’s continued progress in this new era of national development./.
