HCMCity (VNA) - The French Navy’s amphibious assault ship Mistral andfrigate Courbet arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on April 15, starting a week-long friendshipvisit to Vietnam.

Thevisit is part of the Vietnam-France defence cooperation plan for 2017, aimingto strengthen bilateral defence ties and strategic partnership.

Whiletheir ships are docked in Vietnam, the French naval officers are scheduled tomeet leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the municipal HighCommand and the High Command of Naval Zone 2.

TheVietnamese and French naval forces are set to have exchanges and jointexercises.

TheVietnam Peacekeeping Centre and 175 Hospital under the Ministry of NationalDefence will send a delegation to visit the field hospital of the visitingFrench ships to learn experience serving the upcomingdeployment of army medical corps for UN peacekeeping missions.-VNA
