Free coffee for visitors at Buon Ma Thuot coffee festival

Domestic and foreign visitors will be treated to free coffee at the seventh Buon Ma Thuot coffee festival to be held from March 9-16 in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

Dak Lak (VNA) –
Domestic and foreignvisitors will be treated to free coffee at the seventh Buon Ma Thuot coffeefestival to be held from March 9-16 in the Central Highlands province of DakLak.

The People’s Committee of Buon Ma Thuot city hasissued 20,000 free coffee coupons that can be used at 38 cafes in the city.

This aims to promote local coffee to tourists,according to Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vu Van Hung.

The festival is meant to affirm the position ofDak Lak coffee in particular as well as of the Vietnamese coffee sector on theglobal market. 

It will also honour coffee growers, processorsand traders, while encouraging the community to join hands to develop thecoffee industry.

The festival will feature a range of activities,including the 2019 Dak Lak investment promotion conference, an exhibition oncoffee, a seminar on the development of Vietnamese speciality coffee, a photoand coffee history exhibition, a street festival, a contest for farmers, a BuonDon elephant festival and a culinary competition. 

Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie, whofinished in the top five of Miss Universe 2018, has been selected as the communicationsambassador of the festival. 

Vietnam exported more than 1.8 milliontonnes of coffee worth 3.54 billion USD in 2018, up 20 percent in volume and1.2 percent in value compared to the previous year.

The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak boaststhe country’s largest coffee-growing area, with a total area of about 190,000ha, producing 450,000 tonnes of coffee beans annually.–VNA
