Paris (VNA) – The France-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group inthe French Parliament will continue coordinating closely with the France –Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Senate to support Vietnam instrategic issues in the coming time.

The statement was made by Stephanie Do, President of theFrance-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, during her reception forVietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang on July 7.

She expressed her delight at fine development steps in thebilateral relationship, reflected through recent discussions of the twocountries’ high-ranking leaders amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Thang acknowledged contributions made byStephanie Do and her group to developing the diverse and multifacetedcooperation between the two nations in general and the two legislative bodiesin particular.

He thanked the group for canvassing the European Parliamentto approve the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, and for organising activitieson Vietnam’s topic issues.

He showed his hope that group will continue helping Vietnamthrough encouraging EU member countries to pass the EU-Vietnam InvestmentProtection Agreement, supporting the settlement of fisheries-related issues inthe Vietnam-EU relations.

The diplomat affirmed Vietnam always attaches importance toits relations with strategic partners, including France.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to maintain efforts to speedup delegation exchanges and prepare for the 12th Vietnam - France decentralisedcooperation conference slated to be held in Hanoi in late 2022./.
