Fourteen investigated for wrongdoings in steel firm’s expansion project
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has taken legal action against 14 persons involved in legal violations in Phase 2 of the production expansion project at the Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Corporation (TISCO).

Hanoi (VNA) –The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has taken legal action against 14 personsinvolved in legal violations in Phase 2 of the production expansion project atthe Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Corporation (TISCO).
The MPS said on December 13 that the move hadbeen made during a probe into violations of construction investment regulationsthat caused serious consequences and infringements of rules on State assetmanagement and use that caused losses and wastefulness in Phase 2 of thecompany’s production expansion project.
Those under investigation consist of formerStanding Deputy Director of the project management board at TISCO Dang Van Tap,former Deputy Director and project secretary Dong Quang Duong, former ChiefAccountant at TISCO Do Xuan Hoa, former deputy heads of the statisticalaccounting and finance division at TISCO Le Thi Tuyet Lan and Uong Sy Binh,former member of the control board at the Vietnam Steel Corporation (VNS)Nguyen Van Trang, and former member of the Board of Directors and head of thecontrol board at VNS Dang Thuc Khang.
They were charged with “violating regulations onthe management and use of State assets that caused losses and wastefulness”under Article 219 of the 2015 Penal Code.
Besides, police also took legal action againstfive others for “lacking responsibility that caused serious consequences” underArticle 360 of the 2015 Penal Code: Le Phu Hung and Nguyen Minh Xuan – formermembers of the VNS Board of Directors, along with Nguyen Chi Dung, Hoang NgocDiep, and Doan Thu Trang – former members of the TISCO Board of Directors.
The MPS is working to soon finalise theinvestigation in line with regulations of the Central Steering Committee forAnti-Corruption./.
Mai Van Tinh, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Steel Corporation (VNSTEEl) and Dau Van Hung, former General Director of VNSTEEL were detained by for investigations into their alleged legal violations in the second phase of the production expansion project of Thai Nguyen Steel and Iron Corporation (Tisco).
