Four scientists honoured with Bao Son Awards 2024

These projects were recognised for their groundbreaking advances in research and technology application, offering practical value and high socio-economic effectiveness, contributing to sustainable development and the improvement of quality of life.

Hanoi (VNA) - Four outstanding projects in the fields of Animal Protection and the Environment, Health Sciences, Engineering Technology, and Social Sciences and Humanities were honoured at the 2024 Bao Son Awards presenting ceremony, held on May 11 evening at the Hanoi Opera House, with the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.

They are the projects on research and production of African Swine Fever vaccine AVAC ASF LIVE by Dr. Nguyen Van Diep of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company; the research on the application of laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of thyroid disorders by Hero of Labour, People’s Doctor, Associate Prof., Dr. Tran Ngoc Luong; the research and application of advanced three-phase composite materials in engineering by Prof., Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc; and the research on the history of ethnic policies of Vietnamese Communists by Prof., Dr. Furuta Motoo, President of Vietnam-Japan University under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

These projects were recognised for their groundbreaking advances in research and technology application, offering practical value and high socio-economic effectiveness, contributing to sustainable development and the improvement of quality of life.

Nguyen Truong Son, Chairman of the Bao Son Group and Chairman of the Bao Son Fund, shared that in 2024, the fund, in collaboration with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), established an award council consisting of prestigious domestic and international scientists. After six months of implementation, the council received 28 projects, conducted preliminary evaluations, thoroughly assessed them, and selected the four most outstanding projects for recognition. Each award is valued at 3.1 billion VND (approximately 120,000 USD).

Deputy PM Dung emphasised that the development of science and technology is closely linked to the progress of many countries, serving as an essential driving force that affirms the strength and position of a nation.

The awarding ceremony is a concrete example of private enterprises actively and positively participating in implementing the Party and State's major policies and initiatives on science and technology development, particularly Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution No. 68 of the Politburo on developing the private economic sector.

Over the past years, the Bao Son Awards has supported, encouraged, and promoted inventions, innovations, and research results with high scientific and practical values, thus contributing importantly to the cause of🤡 building and safeguarding the country, he said./.
