A forum aimed at promoting investment in the Nghi Son Economic Zone (NSEZ) and its surrounding areas will be held in the central province of Thanh Hoa from October 23-24.

A forum aimed at promoting investment in the Nghi Son Economic Zone(NSEZ) and its surrounding areas will be held in the central province ofThanh Hoa from October 23-24.

The news was released at apress conference jointly held by the Ministry of Planning and Investment(MPI) and the provincial People’s Committee in Hanoi on October 8.

MPI Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung said the forum willcoincide with a ceremony to start construction of the Nghi SonRefinery and Petrochemical Complex (NSRP), which plays animportant role in the socio-economic development strategy of Thanh Hoain particular and Vietnam in general.

The 9 billion USDproject is expected to create a breakthrough in the province’s FDIattraction and make positive spillover effects on other key projects ofthe neighbouring areas, he added.

According to Chairman ofthe provincial People’s Committee Trinh Van Chien, the forum willintroduce the province’s socio-economic development, land use and humanresources development plans by 2020 as well as its policies to call forinvestment.

The potential and advantages of the NSEZ andindustrial parks in the province will be also revealed, he said, addingthat the event is expected to see the signing of cooperation agreementsbetween the local authorities and investors, with an estimatedregistered investment of about 4 billion USD.-VNA
