A memorial service for former Politburo member and former State President Tran Duc Luong was held with national mourning etiquette at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street in Hanoi, on the morning of May 25.
State President Luong Cuong thanked the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Lao Front for National Construction for sending condolences over the passing of former State President Tran Duc Luong.
The Cambodian delegation, led by Men Sam An, Vice President of the CPP, President of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland (SFDCM), and Chairwoman of the Cambodia – Vietnam Friendship Association, was in Vietnam to pay homage to former State President Tran Duc Luong, who passed away on May 20.
Lao Vice President Pany Yathotou said former State President Tran Duc Luong's passing is a great loss to the Vietnamese Party, State, and people, as well as to the Party, State, and people of Laos.
At 7:00 am on May 25, a solemn funeral service for former State President Tran Duc Luong was held at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi.
Leaders of Laos, China, Cambodia, Cuba and Russia have sent messages and letters of condolences to Vietnam, following the death of former Politburo member and former State President Tran Duc Luong on May 20.
Throughout the day, senior Cambodian delegations, including officials from the Royal Palace, the Cambodian People’s Party, the Senate, the National Assembly, the Government, ministries and sectors came to the embassy to pay their respects to the former leader of Vietnam.
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee have issued a special communiqué, announcing that former State President Tran Duc Luong passed away at 22:51 on May 20, 2025, and his funeral will be held as a national mourning.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, State President Luong Cuong presented the badge to former President Tran Duc Luong, recognising his remarkable contributions to the Party and the nation’s revolutionary cause.
Offering incense to late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Cuong expressed deep gratitude for his significant contributions to the country’s revolutionary cause and nation-building and development process.
