Hanoi (VNA) – Minister ofForeign Affairs Bui Thanh Son hosted a reception for Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister and Secretary General of the Steering Committee for China – Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Nong Rong in Hanoi on September 28.
Son spoke highly ofthe positive development of the Vietnam-China bilateral relations after the officialvisit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong from October 30 toNovember🎃 1, 2022.
He affirmed that Vietnam consistentlyconsiders developing friendly neighbourly relations and the comprehensivestrategic cooperative partnership with China as a top priority in its foreignpolice of independence, self-reliance andmultilateralisation and diversification. The minister said he expects bilateral relations will enter a new stage of development after a 15-year fruitful journey of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and expressed his hope that the two sideswill continue to concretise high-level common perceptions, increase strategic exchanges between their leaders, stronglypromote and strive to achieve more specific progress in each field ofcooperation. To this end, the minister urged the twosides to actively speed up and coordinate to prepare for high-level contactactivities in the coming time, make specific progress in areas ofcooperation including trade, investment, transport connection, railwayconstruction cooperation and projects using Chinese aid as well as coordinate to handle obstacles in a number of collaborative projects. Agreeing with Son's opinion, the Chinese AssistantForeign Minister affirmed that the relationship between the two Parties and twocountries is developing very well. In particular, after Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong's visit to China in October 2022, high-level exchanges andcontacts between the two countries take place regularly. Exchanges andcooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Vietnam Fatherland Front withthe National People’s Congress of China and the Chinese People’s Political ConsultativeConference as well as between sectors and localities of both sides have achieved many positiveresults, he said. Nong said that China is willing to work withVietnam to increase high-level contacts at all levels and promote the signing of cooperation documents in all fields. Regarding the maritime issue, the two sidesemphasised the importance of seriously implementing agreements and commonperceptions of senior leaders of the two Parties and countries on maintainingpeace and stability at sea. Minister Son suggested that the two sides makeefforts to well control disagreements and prevent the occurrence of complicated incidents thataffect the overall relationship between the two countries and peace andstability in the region./.
