Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of Foreign AffairsBui Thanh Son held online talks with Chinese State Councilor and ForeignMinister Qin Gang on March 28, during which they agreed to intensify all-levelexchanges.

Both foreign ministers spoke highlyof the fruitful development of the relations between the two Parties andcountries over the past time, especially after the official visit to China byParty General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong from October 30 to November 1, 2022.

They shared the view that the success of Trong’s visithas given a boost to the traditional friendship between the two Parties aswell as the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Son congratulated the Chinese side on the success ofthe first session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and affirmed that Vietnam treasures the friendly neighbourliness and thecomprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China, which is thestrategic selection and top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy ofindependence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification.

An important task for the two foreign ministries lieswith urging agencies and sectors to concretise common perceptions of leaders ofthe two Parties and countries, he emphasised.

For his part, Qin stressed that China attaches importanceto the relationship with Vietnam and regards it an important priority in China’sneighbourhood diplomacy.

The two ministers agreed to increase all-levelexchanges on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the bilateral comprehensivestrategic cooperative partnership (2008-2023) in order to consolidate bilateral politicaltrust.

They will also work to boost and raise the efficiencyof mutually beneficial cooperation in economy, trade and investment, andcoordinate to effectively roll out the projects using Chinese assistance.

Son suggested the two sides take practical measures tofoster the trade ties in a balanced and sustainable fashion, join hands toaddress obstacle to some projects, promote links via road, rail, sea and airroutes, soon restore effective and sustainable tourism cooperation, andenhance exchange and cooperation between the two foreign ministries.

Qin also noted his hope for expanded and deepenedcooperation in economy, trade, investment, culture, education and tourism, and tightenedcoordination at regional and international forums.

Regarding maritime issues, the two sides consented tocontinue implementing agreements and common perceptions reached by high-rankingleaders of the two Party and countries seriously, and working together tomaintain peace and stability in the region.

Son said the two sides should respect internationallaw, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, fordevelopment in each nation, and for peace, stability, cooperation anddevelopment in the region and the world at large./.
