Hanoi (VNS/VNA)ꦡ - The 2024 ASEAN Mitsubishi ElectricCup's draw will be take place on May 21 in Hanoi, featuring a new logo andbrand identity.
This is the 15th edition of the football event and will beheld from November 23 to December 21. Ten ASEAN national teams willcompete to win the Championship title, the most coveted prize in the region. The ASEAN Football Federation and title partner MitsubishiElectric launched a new logo and brand identity for the event. As part of the rebranding, the region’s premier competitionformerly known as the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup, has also been renamed as theASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024. Designed in the five colours shared by the various flags of ASEANnations, it symbolises the unity and bond of the 12 AFF Member Associationswoven together in their spirit of competition. Held biennially, ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup is the region’slargest football event. Since its inception in 1996, the competition, which featuresASEAN national teams has grown from strength to strength with eachedition. In 2022, the Cup achieved a record of more than 438 millionviewers on television and digital streaming platforms. Additionally,digital media channels Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X registered4.2 billion views of event-related videos. The tournament is considered FIFA's official event in 2016. Onlyfour teams have won title after 14 editions. Defending champions Thailandlifted the cup seven times. Singapore won four, Malaysia one and Vietnam two. Vietnam drop 11 spots to the 105th in FIFA February global ranking following their poor performance at the recent AFC Asian Cup 2023 in Qatar, according to the Vietnam Football Federation.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has appointed two female referees of Vietnam to the final round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup in Uzbekistan, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said on February 16.
The women's national team has travelled to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to prepare for upcoming matches at the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup slated for March 3-16.
The Vietnam U20 women's football team defeated the host Uzbekistan 4-1 in a friendly match before the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup Finals on February 27.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
