Flying eye hospital arrives in Thua Thien-Hue

The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital arrived in Thua Thien-Hue province to start a programme to provide eye treatment for poor patients on August 23.
The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital arrived in Thua Thien-Hueprovince to start a programme to provide eye treatment for poor patientson August 23.

A group of 22 experts from thehospital, the world’s only airborne ophthalmic surgical and trainingfacility, will also give five intensive training courses for 30doctors from the central provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri andThua Thien-Hue, during its six-day stay.

They will conduct operations and treat 200 patients, including surgery and laser treatment to half of them.

Theactivity is part of a project funded by the Canadian Government toimprove eye care for children in Thua Thien-Hue and other centralprovinces .

Earlier, experts of the hospitalconducted eye operations and provided eye check-ups for patients in DaNang city of the central region.

Founded in 1982,the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital has conducted 269programmes in 87 nations. It landed in Vietnam for the first time atDa Nang Airport in October 2006./.

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.

Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technolog♛y transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
