A ceremony to mark 50 years since the establishment of the CubanCommittee of Solidarity with South Vietnam has been held in the Cubancapital Havana.
The ceremony, jointly organisedby the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and theVietnamese Embassy in Cuba , was attended by President of theCuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Yolanda Ferrer, ICAP President KeniaSerrano and Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong.
The committee was set up on September 25, 1963 following thenPresident Fidel Castro’s immortal words “For Vietnam, we are ready todevote our blood.”
Addressing the event on September20, Yolanda Ferrer, one of the committee’s initiators, emphasised thatthe founding of the committee has helped nurture the time-honouredrelationship between the two nations over the last five decades.
She said Cuba always remembers Vietnam ’s triumph in the fightfor national independence and said its achievements in its currentdevelopment offers huge encouragement to the Cuban people.
Ambassador Cong acknowledged the committee’s contributions toVietnam ’s victory in the fight for liberation, declaring that youngergenerations should uphold the values of solidarity in the decades ahead.-VNA

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
