The final rehearsal for the national-level celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024) took place in the northwestern mountainous province of Dien Bien on May 5 morning.

Dien Bien (VNA) 👍- The final rehearsal for the national-level celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024) took place in the northwestern mountainous province of Dien Bien on May 5 morning.
It was held by the central steering committee for the celebration of Vietnam’s major holidays and important historical events for 2023-2025 at the Dien Bien stadium.
Attending the event were Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, and many other central and provincial officials.

The rehearsal programme featured a flag-hoisting ceremony, drum performances, artistic presentations, and the announcement of decisions on recipients of orders and commendations. Its highlight was a military parade involving over 12,000 participants, including those from the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, and Dien Bien province.
Nghia, who is also permanent deputy head of the steering committee, stressed the importance of maintaining security and order, while ensuring the satisfaction of both domestic and international attendees.
He asked units involved to efficiently manage reception work and other activities during the celebration./.
Documents and archives regarding the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and the Geneva Conference in 1954 are currently well-preserved at the National Archives Centre No 3 in Hanoi.
A thematic exhibition entitled “Victory of Dien Bien Phu - An Eternal Epic” showcases documentaries and artefacts on the Dien Bien Phu Campaign to the public for the first time.

Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.

The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
