Vietnam exported over 3.43 million tonnes of rice in the first four months of this year, raking in nearly 1.77 billion USD, a 8.1% jump in volume but a 13.3% dip in value from the same period last year.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) will continue to strictly manage rice exports through international border gates, said an official.

With a record trade surplus of 9.12 billion USD over the first 11 months and year-on-year export growth of 7.8 percent, experts believe that 2019 will be the fourth straight year Vietnam will post a trade surplus.
