Exhibition deemd vital to asserting sovereignty over archipelagoes

Addressing theopening ceremony of an exhibition themed “Vietnam’s Hoang Sa, Truong Sa –Historical and Legal Evidence” on May 12 in the central province ofThanh Hoa, Son said that the event will raise public awareness of thecountry’s sacred sovereignty over its sea and islands.

On display are 120 photos, maps, documents and objects which firmlyprove Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa and rejectsChina’s allegations to the contrary, as well as its illegal sovereignclaims over the two archipelagoes and other islands in the East Sea.

The exhibits include maps of Vietnam and China,published in the two countries and the West during the 16th -20thcenturies, proving Hoang Sa and Truong Sa belonged to Vietnam, notChina.

Minister Son said that the artifacts,collected in Vietnam and other countries over the world, will helpinternational partners, including China, understand Vietnam’s legitimateaspirations to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea and in theregion.-VNA
