An ongoing project to enhance legal awareness has enabled nearly 4,000ethnic women from Cukiun district of the Central Highland province ofDak Lak to have a better understanding of their rights.

Theone-year project has so far conducted several training sessions on lawfor the benefit of women of Ea Ktur and Ea Tieu communes, making themmore confident about sharing their knowledge and thoughts on genderparity and women’s social-economic rights.

Ea Ktur, which ishome to 160 ethnic women, has reported no legal violation for severalyears now. Another noteworthy feature in the commune is the absence ofany new HIV/AIDS cases.

These positive outcomes areattributed to efforts by the local Women’s Union, which has effectivelypopularised the Party’s policy and the State’s regulations.

This has helped women better understand the legal and social aspects ofmarriage and family, gender equality and childcare.
