Eighth German Film Festival kicks off

The award-winning movie, 24 Weeks, will open the eighth German Film Festival at Hanoi’s National Cinema Centre on the evening of September 6.

– The award-winning movie, 24 Weeks,will open the eighth German Film Festival at Hanoi’s National Cinema Centre onthe evening of September 6.

The film and eight others, namely dramas BerlinSyndrome, Wild, Millenials, Tiger Girl and Under Sandet;comedies The Lotzmann Family at the Barricades and Tschick;documentary Happy, will be screened in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phongcity, Da Nang city and Thua Thien-Hue province until September 16.
 
Tickets for all screenings in Hai Phong, Da Nang and Huecity are free. In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, tickets are purchased at theprice of 20,000 VND (88 US cents) each.

24 Weeks is the second movie by director Anna Berrachedwhich received the Silver Award German Film Prize 2017. The drama is astory of a couple who have a nine-year-old daughter and are expecting theirsecond child. When they learn that their child will not be born healthy, theyare at first optimistic that they can respond to the challenge.

But the closer it gets to the due date, the more the wife begins to worry aboutthe future of her unborn child as well as that of her family and her career.After many discussions and arguments she realises that she will have to takethe decision on her own. 

The German Film Festival is held annually by theHanoi-based Goethe Institute, aiming to help Vietnamese audience understandmore about the German country and people.-VNA
