Hanoi (VNA)🍎 - A ceremony reviewing the activities of the Group ofVietnamese Women Parliamentarians was held in Hanoi on March 24.
Inattendance were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly ChairwomanNguyen Thi Kim Ngan, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front CentralCommittee Tran Thanh Man, head of the Party Central Committee’s OrganisationCommission Pham Minh Chinh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commissionfor Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai, and leaders from ministries and agencies.
Addressingthe ceremony, Permanent National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, whois also Chairwoman of the group for the 14th tenure, said that since its establishment in May 2008 and through three NAtenures, the group has conducted diverse activities that attracted theactive participation of members and fulfilled its set goals, contributing toimproving the quality of the NA’s operations.
💙 The role and position of female parliamentarians improved during the tenure ofthe 14th legislature. Accounting for 26.7 percent of all deputies,they offered suggestions regarding gender equality to Party and State leadersand affirmed their mettle and brainpower as representatives of the people.
During10 NA sessions, they presented hundreds of opinions on reports to thelegislature and draft laws, accounting for 31.58 percent of total feedback.

They also made responsible, effective, and important contributions atinternational forums. In particular, last year they made substantialcontributions to the 41st GeneralAssembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and ASEAN Summit.
In preparation for the election of deputies to the 15th NA, theywill work closely with the NA Committee on Social Affairs to hold trainingcourses for female candidates.
♛ Phonghoped that such activities will help achieve the goal of raising the number offemale candidates to 35 percent and the number of female lawmakers winning the election to over 30 percent./.
With the support of other members of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), Vietnam, as the AIPA Chair, will make every effort to successfully organise activities within AIPA Year 2020 as well as the upcoming 41st General Assembly of AIPA (AIPA 41), the top Vietnamese legislator has said.
