Education ministry asked to re-open schools at earliest

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) to partner with the Health Ministry to hold a nationwide teleconference collecting experts, scientists and localities’ feedback on a detailed roadmap to re-opening schools and educational establishments nationwide.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hasasked the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) to partner with the HealthMinistry to hold a nationwide teleconference collecting experts, scientists andlocalities’ feedback on a detailed roadmap to re-opening schools andeducational establishments nationwide.

Its results and proposals must be reported to Deputy PrimeMinister Vu Duc Dam for consideration.

It was part of the PM’s conclusions at a meeting of permanent Governmentmembers in Hanoi that were announced by the Government Office on January 18.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 20 million pupils andstudents have been forced to suspend going to school and switch to onlinelearning for many months. Over 70,000 students also failed to graduate, thusaffecting education and training quality.

The MoET was also required to work with the Ministry of Informationand Communications and press agencies to raise public awareness and create publicconsensus on safe re-opening of schools, instruct localities to allow pupilsaged above 12 to go to school following the Lunar New Year festival as soon aspossible, especially in those with high vaccination rate for children aged12-17.

🥀 The Health Ministry was assigned to promptly hold a scientificseminar acquiring experience of countries and the World Health Organisation toreport to competent authorities about vaccination for children aged 5-11./.
