Hanoi (VNA)🌊 – A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake in the central region of Myanmar on August 24 has killed at least one person.

The victim was killed when a building in Magway collapsed.
Nearly 60 pagodas in Bagan ancient city, about 30km from the quake’s epicenter to the north, were damaged. The pagodas were built from the 10th to 14th century and revered by a large population of Buddhists in the country.
The earthquake was so intense that it could be felt in neighbouring countries such as Thailand, India and Bangladesh. Earthquakes often strike Myanmar, with another 6.8 magnitude hitting in 2012, leaving 26 dead and hundreds injured.-VNA
