Dong Thap bolsters community-based tourism

Dong Thap (VNA) – The MekongDelta province of Dong Thap is currently home to 73 community-based touristattractions in Lai Vung and Thap Muoi districts and Cao Lanh city.

A Dong Thap tourism developmentproject from 2015-2020 aims to turn tourism into the province’s spearheadsector, boost the growth of community-based tourism and devise tourismproducts, thereby creating more jobs and contributing to the labour transitionprocess.

Many farms in the province have alsoworked to develop agrotourism with farm produce such as Chau Thanh longan, LaiVung pink tangerine, Cao Lanh mango, Sa Dec ornamental flowers and Thap Muoilotus, among others.

Deputy Director of the provincialDepartment of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ngo Quang Tuyen said travel companieshave paid heed to the attractiveness of the homestay facilities.

He added that each tourismdestination in the province has identified distinctive products and launched newseasonal tours to lure more visitors.

For example, tourists in the Dong SenThap Muoi area can enjoy various dishes made from lotus, ride boats and catchfish in the lotus pond. The tourist area is among the top attractions oftourists from other Mekong Delta localities and Ho Chi Minh City, the officialnoted.-VNA
