Dong Nai sees 8.35 percent growth in industrial production in six months

Hanoi (VNA) –Industrial production of the southern province of Dong Nai in the first sixmonths of 2018 grew 8.35 percent over the same period of 2017.

Highest rise was seenin water supply, waste management and treatment industry at 13.11 percent, followedby power, gas and hot water production and distribution at 8.35 percent, and miningat 5.2 percent.

The provincial People’sCommittee attributed the results to the stable global economy that led to stableexport orders of many products such as footwear, garment, rubber and plastics.

At the same time, someforeign-invested projects expanded, while some others were put into operations.

Meanwhile, in thefirst six months of 2018, Dong Nai continued maintaining high and stableeconomic growth, which was the driving force for industrial production.

Dong Nai’s total grossregional domestic product grew 7.5 percent over the same period last year.

With exports of over 9billion USD, Dong Nai enjoyed trade surplus of over 1 billion USD in sixmonths.

Foreign directinvestment reached 950 million USD, completing 95 percent of the locality’syearly target.

As many as 1,650 newfirms were established with combined capital of 12 trillion VND.

Dong Nai’s totalbudget collection hit 23.22 trillion VND, fulfilling 43 percent of the yearlyestimate and representing a rise of 11 percent year on year.

In the rest of theyear, Dong Nai will continue rolling out measures to improve its businessenvironment and enhance competitiveness, while dealing with difficulties relatedto investment procedures to speed up the progress of disbursement and publicinvestment projects.-VNA
