Dong Nai has 420 firms in support industry

The southern province of Dong Nai currently has 420 enterprises specialising on producing accessories and spare parts for garments & textiles, mechanics and other industries, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

Of the total, asmany as 82 facilities produce materials for garment, textile andfootwear production, applying advanced technology and attracting 43,000workers, reported the department.

However, accordingto the department, these firms do not meet the demand for material forthe apparel and footwear sectors, forcing the sector to import largenumbers of materials to ensure production.

Recently,the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group commenced constructionon a 500 billion VND (23.4 million USD) fibre factory in the province.The facility is scheduled to become operational in January 2016,providing nearly 5,000 tonnes of high-quality fibre for garment andtextile factories each year.

Meanwhile, 334enterprises producing mechanical accessories and spare parts including60 automobile and motorcycle spare parts production facilities. Otherfirms are working on providing material for plastic and other sectors,it said.

The facilities, with outdated technologyand low competitiveness, have failed to meet the demand of theircustomers, especially in multinational enterprises.-VNA
