During a trip to the islands and Marine Platform DK1, working mission No. 21 brought many practical gifts worth over 3 billion VND (nearly 118,000 USD) from the homeland to soldiers and residents in Truong Sa.

Over 200 delegates from the Ministry of Health, the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the Ethnic Art Troupe of Hoa Binh province visited soldiers and people in Truong Sa island district and DK 1 platform in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa from April 29 to May 5.

Flag-raising ceremony is a long-held tradition of cadres and soldiers and locals on DK1 offshore platform every Monday morning to pay tribute to late soldiers who sacrificed their lives safeguarding Vietnam’s sovereignty over sea and island.

The Command of Naval Region 2 on January 8 sent two delegations to visit and offer Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to officers and soldiers performing duties at the DK1 platforms in Vietnam’s southern continental shelf, along with the island district of Con Dao.

DK1 platforms amid the sea have become a symbol of Vietnam’s sovereignty and Vietnamese naval soldiers and officers’ courage.

About 250 nautical miles from the shore, DK1 platform is a group of economic, scientific and technological service stations of Vietnam in the East Sea.

Construction on a 166Kwh-solar power project will begin in the island commune of An Binh (or Be Island) in Ly Son district, the central province of Quang Ngai in June.
