Khanh Hoa (VNA) – A natural disaster alert and watch system will be built at 13 coastal provinces and cities from Ha Tinh to Ba Ria – Vung Tau with 532 stations, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

At a conference in Khanh Hoa Province on October 7 on the construction of the system, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Van Thang said natural disasters have become increasingly complicated due to climate change and economic development.

Therefore, the construction of a multifunction disaster alert and watch system is necessary in order to improve forecast capability and spread information to all people.

The construction of the system will be divided into two stages. The first stage from now to 2020 will build 281 stations in Da Nang city, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan at a cost of 200 billion VND (8.9 million USD).

More stations will be built in remaining localities after 2020 and the capital for the system’s construction will be sourced from the State budget and society.
