Digital transformation emphasised as urgent tasks

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Enterprises need to changetheir mindset to move into the digital world ahead of the fourth industrialrevolution, a government official said this week.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications NguyenMinh Hong was speaking at a recent conference organised by the Vietnam DigitalCommunications Association.

Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Director of the Authority of InformationTechnology Application, pointed out that digital transformation relied on threemain aspects: people, enterprises and the State.

In terms of people, it could be recognised that industrieswere demanding suitable human resources and must pay attention to training, hesaid.

"Businesses need to switch from doing traditionalbusiness to doing business on digital platforms with products and servicesintegrated with technology, mainly using robots and artificialintelligence," he said.

But he said the most important aspect was government, whichis the foundation while data was the core.

The director also emphasised sectors which needed includingeducation, health, agriculture, environment, tourism, banking and smart cities.

Phuc also introduced many solutions to implement digitalconversion such as increasing communications; building digital infrastructure;ensuring information security in digital conversion and preparing for digitalhuman resources and legal environment.

Nguyen Xuan Quang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Informationand Communications Department, stressed the capital city was trying to overcomedifficulties and challenges in converting digital infrastructure, databases andtechnology.

The city also set goals to continue building e-government,completing the information infrastructure and core database and connecting thenational database by 2020.

The city had also developed a strategy and a plan for buildingsmart cities by 2025, Quang said.

In addition, the city was developing a smart managementcentre, which exploited some of the basic components of transportinfrastructure and smart tourism; studied and deployed some basic components inthe fields of health, education and training, electricity, environment and smartagriculture, he added.-VNS/VNA
