Digital banking app ViettelPay wins APICTA award

Vietnam has for the first time won a gold medal at the 18th annual Asia Pacific Information Communication Technology Awards (APICTA) held recently in China.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has for the first time won a gold medal at the18th annual Asia Pacific Information Communication Technology Awards (APICTA)held recently in China.

The gold medal was presented to ViettelPay – a digitalbanking application developed by the Viettel Military Industry and TelecomsGroup (Viettel) in the business service, finance and marketing category.

ViettelPay was officially launched in the market in June2018 as part of the group’s plan to develop a digital payment and e-commerceecosystem. Only four months after its launch, ViettelPay had more than 2million users with 12,000 transactions nationwide supporting both smart phonesand normal phones.

ViettelPay has gradually popularised electronic finance tohelp people in even rural and mountainous areas easily access financialservices.

The APICTA ward 2018 has affirmed Viettel’s position in theelectronic finance sector in the country together with its targets ofdeveloping the digital economy.

APICTA is an international awards programme to increase ICTawareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital gap. APICTA hasbeen considered as the OSCAR award to honour outstanding ICT products andservices from 16 member economies in the sector in the Asia Pacificregion. This year’s event received entries of 15 participants with 351products and services.-VNA
