Dien Bien (VNA) – A delegation fromthe Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry visited the north-western provinceof Dien Bien from September 24-27 to share experience in encouragingagricultural expansion and increase values of farm produce.
Dien Bien hascooperated in agriculture with northern Lao provinces since 2012, and hasallocated nearly 7 billion VND (308,000 USD) to those joint programmes.
Under the programme, the Vietnamese locality hasassisted Luang Prabang, Phongsaly and Oudomxay provinces in farming rice, growingmushrooms, raising chickens and ducks, and preventing plant diseases.
Particularly, Dien Bien helped Laos build an agro-forestrytechnical transfer centre and sent experts to help with the centre’s activities.
The province will continue to coordinate withthe three northern provinces of Laos in developing animal raising andaquaculture in the time ahead.
The two sides agreed to share more experience inpreventing animal and plant diseases and increase education campaigns on forestprotection and anti-poaching of wild animals in border areas.
