Dien Bien, China’s Yunnan strengthen coordination in mantaining border security

Dien Bien (VNA) – The Department of Public Security of Dien Bien province and the Public Security Bureau of Pu’er city in China’s Yunnan province held their 13th annual talks in Dien Bien Phu city on November 25 to discuss cooperation in ensuring national security, combating crimes, and maintaining order and security between the two localities.

In 2024, the two sides exchanged information via their hotline to verify, receive, and repatriate citizens who had illegally entered or exited the countries, as well as other information related to ensuring security and order.

In the first 10 months of this year, the Dien Bien provincial police verified and received 42 cases of citizens who had illegally entered China and been repatriated by the Chinese side. They also discovered 997 drug-related cases involving 1,152 suspects, seizing 47kg of heroin and 45kg of synthetic drugs.

At the meeting, the two sides proposed areas for cooperation in the coming period to continue maintaining security and order, and issues of mutual concern such as combating transnational crimes, terrorism, illegal religious activities, cybercrime, human trafficking, and illegal immigration.
