Deputy PM urges EU to remove yellow card on Vietnamese seafood

Singapore (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister andForeign Minister Pham Binh Minh on August 3 urged the European Union (EU) toconsider removing the “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood at an earlydate.
He made the request during a meeting with EU HighRepresentative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini onthe sidelines of the 51st ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and related meetingsin Singapore.
The Deputy PM affirmed that Vietnam has been working to dealwith illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
He also asked both sides to continue working closelytogether to soon complete negotiations towards signing a Free Trade Agreementand Investment Protection Agreement.-VNA
Vietnam has been active in implementing nine recommendations related to the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing of the European Commission (EC) to ensure responsible and sustainable fisheries, said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Nguyen Xuan Cuong.
A delegation of the European Commission (EC) is visiting Vietnam from May 15-24 to inspect the outcomes of the country’s measures to control illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
