Deputy PM Phuc in Boston for VELP programme

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in Boston city, the US state of Massachusettes on August 25 to attend the annual Vietnam Executive Leadership Programme (VELP) at Harvard University.

Upon arriving, the deputy PM met with representatives fromVietnamese researchers and students working and studying in the US,who expressed their wish for a favourable working enviroment at home sothat they can contribute the most to the national construction anddevelopment following their graduation.

The Deputy PMspoke highly of the close bonds and warm feeling of the Vietnamesescientists as well as the overseas Vietnamese community in the US.

He also hailed the recently-established Association ofVietnamese Youth and Student Association in the US , adding that hehopes the organisation will help connect all Vietnamese students in theUS so that they can support each other in both studies and lives.

Before travelling to Boston , Phuc met with US Secretary ofJustice Eric Holder and Secretary of Health and Human Services KathleenSebelius in Washington.

He also had workingsessions with the US Agency for International Development, the GlobalAIDS Coordinator, the Federal Drug Policy Coordination Office, and theWashington DC Drug Court.

The deputy PM also had a shortstay in New York where he met with staff of the Vietnam PermanentMission to the United Nations.-VNA
