Danish Ambassador: Green Strategic Partnership brings bilateral ties to new level

Hanoi (VNA)💧 – Danish Ambassador toVietnam Nicolai Prytz highlighted the recent establishment of Green StrategicPartnership (GSP) between Vietnam and Denmark has opened up a newchapter in their 50-year relationship, during a recent meeting with the press.
Prytz said since 2015, Vietnam andDenmark have shifted away from a donor-recipient relationship toward a partnershipon an equal footing, with extensive cooperation across all sectors, includingpolitical dialogue, green growth, energy, agriculture, food, health care, andculture, with a primary focus on capacity-building in these areas. According to him, the two countries previously had strategiccooperation in various fields related to green growth. Therefore, when they movedtoward a relationship called the GSP, it meant that they are seeking a preciseterm for the collaboration that has been taking place between them.
He stressed that over the past years, theVietnamese Government has made strong commitments to green transformation,including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's commitments at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) to achievenet-zero emissions by 2050.
ไ Meanwhile, Vietnam is one of the countriesmost vulnerable to climate change, heavily reliant on fossil fuels, and with agrowing energy-intensive industry.
Therefore, the Danish diplomat said he believes that the GSP will focus on addressing Vietnam’s issues of national and global significancefor Vietnam and steering efforts toward greater adoption of green technologyand sustainable practices. He stressed that the agreement to establishthe GSP has taken the already close and successful cooperation between Vietnamand Denmark to a new level. Additionally, it provides a robust framework forDenmark to assist Vietnam in developing an economy with climate resilience and lowcarbon emissions, and promoting a circular economy. Vietnam is one of the five countries withwhich Denmark has established a GSP, along with India, Indonesia, South Africa,and the Republic of Korea. The diplomat revealed that the GSP will be carriedout at political, cooperation programme, and economic levels. At the politicallevel, the two governments will continue their dialogues on green growth andclimate change issues. Vietnam and Denmark will promptly discussand develop a GSP action plan with ambitious objectives and specific actions. It will increase the exchange of knowledge and best practices,strengthen capacity building, and facilitate technology transfer in variousstrategic cooperation programmes in fields such as energy, agriculture, health care,education, statistics, and more. This plan will also include new initiatives inareas of mutual interest, such as sustainable development, climate, andmaritime solutions, he said./.
The Danish Embassy in Hanoi on November 25 held a workshop on organic production, and certification and management of organic products to share experience between the two countries in this field.
One decade after their comprehensive partnership was set up (September 19, 2013-2023), Vietnam and Denmark have enjoyed extensive, substantive and effective cooperation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Luong Thanh Nghi has told the Vietnam News Agency.

The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOVA) has served as a bridge connecting and uniting the community with the homeland, becoming a trusted source of support for Vietnamese expats in times of hardship.
The programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has achieved notable results, with nearly 263,000 housing units addressed to date, including 225,000 houses inaugurated and 38,000 under construction. Thirty-eight provinces and cities across the nation have already fulfilled their targets.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
