Dak Nong to host first Vietnam brocade festival

Hanoi (VNA) – The first Vietnam brocade culture festival and DakNong investment promotion conference will take place in the Central Highlandslocality from January 5-7.

At a press conference held in Hanoi on December 11, Vice Chairwoman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh said that this is part of the activities tocelebrate the 15th founding anniversary of the province.

The festival honours the remarkable cultures of Vietnamese ethnic groups and encouragesethnic people to preserve their traditional brocade craftsmanship. It is alsoexpected to create a venue for local artisans to exchange experience and shape thesustainable handicraft in society, Hanh highlighted.

Major events held in the framework of the festival include the exhibition ofVietnamese brocade cultural spaces, brocade weaving practice sessions, restorationof several aspects of traditional ethnic minority festivals, and artperformances. A conference on brocade culture, a street festival, and a brocadefashion show are also scheduled to take place.

On the occasion, Hanh introduced the local investment promotion conference,which will be held under the theme of “Dak Nong – Investment Potential andOpportunities”. During the event, the province will present investmentdecisions and licences to several businesses. It will sign cooperation dealswith many foreign and domestic firms, with the expected investment of more than92 trillion VND (3.93 billion USD). –VNA
