Two exhibitions promoting coffee were opened on March 9 in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highland province of Dak Lak, known as the coffee capital of Vietnam.

Dak Lak (VNA) – Two exhibitions promoting coffee were opened on March 9 in Buon Ma Thuot city, the Central Highland province of Dak Lak, known as the coffee capital of Vietnam.

The thematic exhibition "The history of world coffee" and the photo exhibition "Vietnamese coffee - The journey to create world cultural heritage” are among the 18 main activities of the 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2023.

|The first one featured three coffee civilisations through the over-12-century history of the world coffee industry, namely Ottoman, Roman and Zen. Meanwhile, the second one displayed outstanding photos selected from a contest which was held from November 23, 2022 to February 21, 2023 to honour the coffee industry and the  culture of enjoying coffee of Vietnamese people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee H’Yim Kđoh said that the exhibitions are expected to increase public understanding of coffee culture and history.

He said that he hopes visitors to Dak Lak, in addition to enjoying delicious coffee, can also explore the coffee culture as well as local nature and people, he said.

Many other events are also taking place during the coffee festival, including the Lao water-splashing festival, the wedding ritual of the Ede ethnic group, the masquerade festival of K'Ho ethnic people, playing gongs with local people, and making coffee in Zen, Roman, or Ottoman styles.

The two exhibitions last until May 9./.
