Da Nang seeks to bolster relations with South Africa

Pretoria (VNA) – Officials of the Da Nangmunicipal Party Committee recently had a working visit to South Africa topopularise the central city’s images and promote trade, investment andcooperation.
The delegation, led by Standing Deputy Secretaryof the Party Committee Vo Cong Tri, had working sessions with representativesof the South African Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and theJohannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).
At these events, Da Nang officials introducedtheir city’s strategic position in Vietnam’s politics, economy, culture andsociety, along with its socio-economic situation. They asked the South Africanside to assist Da Nang to enhance trade, investment and tourism links withlocal agencies, organisations, businesses and people.
They added that Da Nang is ready to welcomedelegations of the DTI, the JCCI and South African partners to boost bilateralcooperation.
Medileke Ramushu, head of the DTI’s relationswith Asia division, highly valued Da Nang’s development potential, noting thatboth countries have young population, increasing tourist numbers andcomplementary agricultural products. He voiced his hope for chances to step uptrade and investment ties and cooperation in other fields with Vietnam,including Da Nang, in the time ahead.
Meanwhile, JCCI President Herman Breedt saidwith nearly 4,000 members, including 400 working in tourism, the JCCI will havea chance to become a potential partner of the Vietnamese city.
He added that the JCCI is ready to help Da Nangseek partners and organise workshops in the city or South Africa to promotetrade, investment, tourism and cooperation. –VNA
The Vietnam-South Africa relations have grown continuously, with the regular exchange of all-level delegations, which have helped boost the bilateral ties in an intensive, practical and effective manner, Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Vu Van Dung has stated.
