Da Nang (VNA) – The central cityof Da Nang is focusing on developing social housing so as to meet increasingdemand of local people.
The city has invested in over 13,000 socialhouses so far. Its social housing development programme targets another 20,000houses by 2030.
To that end, Da Nang is calling for moreinvestment in this field. In November last year, the municipal ConstructionDepartment signed an agreement on social housing development with the KoreaLand and Housing Corporation of the Republic of Korea (RoK).
With its experience and capacity, the RoKcorporation is expected to contribute to the city’s goal achievement.
Established in 2009 as a State-ownedenterprise of the RoK Government, the corporation has built 2.76 millionapartments, including 1.12 million social houses, and is carrying out a numberof smart urban development and urban reconstruction projects./.
Housing development is of paramount importance to Ho Chi Minh City as the city’s population is expected to see an increase of one million people every five years in the 2021-35 period, according to Vo Van Hoan, vice chairman of the city People’s Committee.
Most industrial parks in the country, including in the southern key economic zone, lack housing for workers, said Phan Van Anh, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.
Only 28 percent of industrial zone workers are provided with stable accommodation, while the rest have to rent houses with poor sanitation and infrastructure.
There was not a single social housing project in Ho Chi Minh City this year, and with support funds for them being limited, there is a fear the situation could continue, experts said.
Nine social housing projects for low-income earners with more than 4,100 apartments measuring 205,500 sq. m were completed and put into use in 2019, which did not meet the target set by the national housing development strategy to 2020 with a vision to 2030.
The new Government decree also simplifies loan procedures while expanding credit incentives to include organic and circular agriculture, allowing them to access preferential terms similar to those of high-tech and value-chain based agricultural production.
