Briefing the guests about the city’ssocio-economic achievements last year, Nam said Da Nang successfully held manynational and international-scale events, welcomed over 7.3 million tourists,including 372 foreign delegations comprising 3,106 people who came to work in trade,education, culture, tourism and sci-tech. He spoke highly of cooperative ties between DaNang and Laos’ southern and central provinces, including Savannakhet, sayingthat the city is rolling out cooperation programmes outlined in the Memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) on cooperation for the 2023-2027 period that it signed with five provinces in southern and central Laos, withsignificant results in education and training, notably a scholarship programme enablingLao officials and students to study at the University of Da Nang. The host informed that in early April, a localhigh-ranking delegation will visit and extend Bunpimay New Year greetings 2024 toLaos’s southern and central provinces, including Savannakhet. The city is alsoin the process of building plans to carry out cooperation programmes outlinedin the MoU between the two localities this year. Sengtavanh, for hispart, expressed thanks to Da Nang for its supportover the past years. He wished that friendly ties between the two localitieswould be further tightened, contributing to fostering the great friendship,special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries’ Parties,States and people./.
The central city of Da Nang on March 30 welcomed 150 tourists from Vientiane, Laos, on the first direct flight of Lao Airlines after a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Da Nang places importance on strengthening cooperation with Lao localities, said Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang at an August 30 reception for Lao Consul General to the central city Souphanh Hadaoheuang.
The central coastal city of Da Nang’s scholarship programme for Lao officials and students studying at local universities is a bright spot in the sides’ cooperation, affirmed visiting Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh at a working session with Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh on December 12.
