Da Nang city to host international photo exhibition

An international photo exhibition marking the country’s Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) will take place in the central city of Da Nang from April 24 to May 3 at the Da Nang Museum.

- An international photoexhibition marking the country’s Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day(May 1) will take place in the central city of Da Nang from April 24 to May 3 atthe Da Nang Museum.

The museum said 246 photos from 185photographers, which were selected from the 9th Vietnam International ArtisticPhoto Competition last year, will be displayed for locals as well as touristsvisiting the city.

The exhibition will display the best photos inthe categories of open shots, landscapes, portraits and daily life.

The photos have been selected from 11,000 photossent from 36 countries and territories, 88 of which have been given awards orcertificates by the Vietnam Artistic Photo Association (VAPA), and theInternational Federation of Photographic Art (Fédération Internationale del’Art Photographique-FIAP).

The exhibition will officially open at 15:30 onApril 24 at the museum, located at 24 Tran Phu Street.

Last year, the city also hosted the ASEANCommunity Exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of the foundation of ASEAN.

The Museum, which covers 3,000sq.m, is home to2,500 objects, photos and documents on the culture of Da Nang and neighbouringcentral provinces.

The museum was built on the old site of the DieHai Citadel, which was built under the Nguyen Dynasty between 1802 and 1860. Italso preserves a collection of 11 cannons unearthed at the citadel between 1979and 2008.-VNA
