Da Nang city to host international marathon 2015

Some 5,000 sport aficionados are expected to participate in the 2015 International Marathon scheduled in the central coastal city of Da Nang on August 30, announced the municipal People’s Committee on June 30.
Some 5,000 sport aficionados are expected to participate in the 2015International Marathon scheduled in the central coastal city of Da Nangon August 30, announced the municipal People’s Committee on June 30.

Therunning course will offer a full marathon (42 kilometres), halfmarathon (21 kilometres) and five-kilometre fun run and walk. The courseis certified by the International Association of Athletics Federationsand Association of International Marathons and Distance Races(IAAF-AIMS).

Runners will have access to a number of relaxingactivities such as massages and cold compresses at the destination. Therun itself will feature stunning views and pass some of the mostmagnificent bridges in the city.

The award gala ceremony, named “Sunset Party”, will be held at the East Sea Park.

Inaddition, tourism activities will be integrated with the running eventto popularise Da Nang as a leading city of event-culture-tourism inSoutheast Asia.

More than just a race, the running event servesas a catalyst to promote sport activities in Da Nang and Vietnam morebroadly.

Last year, 3,500 participants, including 400professional marathoners from 25 countries and territories, competed inthe race.
